U7 HURLING
Well done to our U7s, who travelled to Rockwell on Tuesday 8th August to play a hurling blitz, it's great to see all the happy faces in the photo below.
U13 HURLING
Our U13's had two fixtures in the last week with the first outing against against a strong Cahir side. Cahir's physicality was a telling factor in this game but our lads fought hard throughout. Cahir won in the end but lots of positives to work with going in the next game. Next up was Moyle Rovers on Tuesday 8th August. The team were eager to improve on each performance and really did get stuck into the opposition. In what was a very entertaining and close game the match ended in a draw. Some great displays by all during both matches. It is great to see this group getting so many games at B level which will only help them in their development going forward.
U17 HURLING
Our U17's faced Skeheenarinky in the 5th round of the South U17 hurling league championship on Monday 7th August. This game provided many twists and turns throughout with some excellent point taking on display. The old saying that 'goals win matches' was true on the night as we clocked up 20 scores but Skeheen found the net on 4 occasions just giving them a two point win in the end. There is plenty to work with and with 3 games remaining the group are positioned well to move forward to the knockout stages if they can pick up a few more wins along the way.
INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL
Our Intermediate footballers kicked off the first round of their county championship campaign last Monday 7th August in Monroe against Clonmel Og. We met Clonmel Og earlier in the year in the South Championship winning comprehensively but we knew this game would be a different task in hand as we have had some great battles with them over the years. The opening 10 minutes saw exchanges from both sides as we went into a 3 points to 2 lead Mark O'Meara, Ben Comerford & Mikie Lyons. Clonmel Og then picked up a black card after a late tackle which allowed us to use the extra man to our advantage. In the next 10 minute period we kicked 1-2 to increase our advantage further when Mark O'Meara blasted to the net with point from Mikie Lyons and Leon Kennedy adding to score. Clonmel Og did bounce back with a goal of their own before we received a black card on the 24th minute. Clonmel Og continued to narrow the gap until Paudi O Shea kicked a point to settle the nerves and put 3 between the sides again. Loracn MaGorrian was replaced by Alex Millea just before the break following a shoulder injury after a heavy hit earlier in the half. On the stroke of half time Alex Millea laid his mark on the game after he calmly finished off a superb move to put us 6 points up at the break. Clonmel Og opened the scoring at the start of the second half but we soon got some scores of our own through Ben Comerford and Mark O'Meara. From here on we were in control of the game and picked off some lovely scores along the way. Mikey Lyons added a pointed free before Mark O'Meara, Sean O'Meara and Alex Millea all added to the score. One more Mikey free and a Leon Kennedy point from play saw us win comfortably in the end. A solid start to our campaign which will set us up for a second round fixture against Fethard on the 19th August. Well done to all and we wish Lorcan the best of luck with his injury.
